Hi! I'm Henry 👋
I was in such a rush to meet everyone that I arrived three months early, just before Christmas 2017, and spent my first months in NICU with Mummy and Daddy by my side. Arriving that early left me with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy — but it definitely didn't leave me short of personality 😂
The hard work
I've had SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) surgery — which really does change lives — and I work hard every week at physiotherapy, CIMT, DMI, FES and Galileo therapy, with my trusty AFO splints along for the ride. Most of my seizures happen at night, so I sleep with special monitoring and an anti-suffocation pillow from the amazing charity HOPE for Epilepsy.
The fun part
Mostly, though, I'm busy being a happy, cheeky schoolboy: horse riding 🐴, swimming, kayaking, activity days with Abilite, parties with my awesome school friends, and plenty of mischief with Angel, my Australian Labradoodle 🐾 — usually while keeping Mummy and Daddy on their toes.
About this blog
This blog is the home of our family's story — the full archive of my Facebook posts from 2025 onwards, plus new adventures as they happen. It's written by me, with a little typing help from Mummy.
We share it all — the hospital days and the happy days — to show what life with cerebral palsy and epilepsy really looks like, and hopefully to help other families at the start of a similar journey feel a little less alone. 🥰
